Posted by admin at April 15th, 2013
Heather Spohr has been writing regularly since 2002 on her blog at The Spohrs Are Multiplying.com and her community has grown massively over the past decade. We dive into some key elements involved in building her successful blog and what keeps it going today.
But first, the news this week:
Amazon is reducing the royalties paid to self-publishing authors whose books cover price is more than $9.99. For self-published books priced between 2.99 and 9.99, Amazon pays a 70% royalty rate, but is reducing that rate on higher-priced books to only 35%. A move that many are calling an unfair attack on small authors, but has been defended as an attempt to keep the Kindle platform attractive to consumers by encouraging lower book prices. In the interview with Heather, we talk about getting a blog started before “blogging” was even a word, building a community of readers, consistently blogging, concepts on book writing, HerChannel video marketing, YouTube films, and the charitable work behind her blog that raises critical support for at-risk babies.
